A traditional sand casting facility since 1878, Franklin Bronze & Alloy Company expanded into the investment casting market in 1987. We subsequently expanded our investment casting capabilities in 1989, 1991, and 1996, and our investment casting division now operates as an independent entity.
A facility which offers everything from in-house tool making to finish casting machining, our investment casting division currently employs over 75 people. Our investment casting facility supplies precision castings in brass and bronze, aluminum, stainless steel, and nickel-base alloys, and investment casting range in size from a few ounces to 15 pounds.
Industries which benefit from our investment casting division range from heavy industries to hardware manufacturers. The single largest market served by our investment casting division is the glass mold industry.
Franklin Bronze employs a no-bake sand casting process, and we perform green sand molding on four squeezer production lines. For large parts, we use a chemically set sand casting system for unequaled precision. Alloys we pour include brass and bronze, aluminum, and stainless steel. Sand castings range from 1 inch to 3 square feet and may weigh up to 200 pounds. Sand casting orders range from 1 to 50,000 pieces.
Franklin Bronze & Alloy Company's lost wax casting services allow sculptors who work in the lost wax process to have their wax work beautifully reproduced in bronze. Working from an artist-supplied wax carving, Franklin Bronze can convert lost wax carvings into bronze sculpture by investing the lost wax carving and then pouring molten bronze into the new mold.
