Investing in Training, Education and Development

Having an agile cross-trained and skilled workforce is a key initiative at FBPC.  “We want our employees engaged, and we want to provide them the skills to do their best work,” explains Dave Greene, Operations Manager and Interim General Manager.

With that FBPC has been partnering with Venango Technology Center (VTC) to create customized training programs for the FBPC team.  “What is great for us is that the school customizes training based on areas that are most important to us.  We are able to train using real-world examples of what we do on the shop floor,” furthers Dave.

Last year VTC conducted Blueprint Training and Maintenance Tech Training with FBPC employees.

Twenty employees from various departments over a three-month timeframe took part in the Blueprint Training. “We had to limit the class size and hope to do another class later as we had more people that wanted to take it than we had space for,” notes Dave.

The training has helped FBPC employees to better understand prints and how they relate to orders throughout the investment casting process.  The course was held over three months so that employees had the advantage to apply what they learned in their everyday tasks as well as to minimize impact to production hours.  This training was well received by all who attended and Franklin Bronze will continue to pursue these types of opportunities in order for employees to be successful every day!
